NEWTON Architecture was founded in 2020 by Terrence Newton, AIA, on a simple premise: great design thrives on deep collaboration among the Architect, Owner, Contractor, and Trades. As a full-service practice, we bring over 35 years of combined design experience across commercial and residential projects from ground-up developments to complex renovations and interior design. We specialize in navigating difficult, unique constraints to deliver creative, highly original spatial solutions

Who We Are.

Terrence Newton’s passion for architecture was shaped by a life on the move, inspired by the varied landscapes and structures he encountered while traveling the world during his father’s Air Force career. He carried that fascination with travel and construction into his own military service with the U.S. Navy Seabees (Construction Battalions).

Terrence holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University (1994) and a Master of Architecture from the University of Houston (2011), relocating to Austin, Texas, that same year. Over a multifaceted career spanning small boutique studios and large architectural firms, he has served as designer, project manager, director, and mentor. A registered Architect, licensed Interior Designer, and LEED-qualified professional, Terrence brings a deep breadth of technical skill and collaborative leadership to every project.

Michael Pennington brings over 25 years of specialized expertise in interior architecture and design to his role as Managing Director. Known for seamlessly bridging creative vision with rigorous technical leadership, Michael has spearheaded diverse projects across the commercial, healthcare, education, aviation, and retail sectors.

A natural problem solver, he balances inventiveness with grounded pragmatism to navigate complex design and delivery challenges. His work has earned numerous industry awards, and he is a recognized thought leader who regularly contributes to publications and panels on workplace strategy and innovation. Beyond his professional work, Michael serves as a volunteer first responder with Texas Search and Rescue, holding specialized certifications in ground search operations, incident management, and swiftwater rescue
